Founded in 2008 the Young Dragons Hockey Club is the newest Youth Hockey club in Norfolk. We offer fun and safe sessions on Norfolk's newest hockey pitch, right in the middle of Norwich and welcome everyone of all abilities.

Training
We provide training for those aged 5-18 as below:

Mixed u8 Sunday 10.00 - 11.00
Mixed u10 & u12 Tuesday 18.15 - 19.30
Boys 12 - 18 Thursday 18.30 - 19.45
Girls 12 - 18 Friday 18.15 - 19.30

We have three u15 Development League Teams, 2 Dragons teams and Tango Titans who are a combined team between Dragons and Watton Hockey Club.

Throughout the season there are many u8, u10 and u12 tournaments held around the County for both boys and girls and we participate in as many of these as possible. This season will also see us hosting our tournament on March 4th 2012. More details will be available on this nearer the time.

Cost
In order to cover costs (such as pitch hire), we have to make minimum charges. If you have any concerns regarding the cost of hockey, please do not hesitate to talk to us

u8, u10 & u12s = £2 per session.
Development League = £35 per season and £4 per match. The £35 covers training.

Club Branded Kit
Click here to go to our club shop for NDHC branded kit. There's lots of kit to choose from scarves to beanies to tracksuits. Clothing can be initialled for that personal touch.

What to bring
You will need the following:

- A hockey stick (we do have a supply that can be lent out)
- Shin pads – the very nature of the game means that some protection is essential
- Water bottle and drink
- Suitable sports clothing and footwear including water proofs and warm clothing
- Gum shield/mouth guard.
- Any medication required

The following are optional but a good idea and highly recommended

- Astro turf glove
- Astro turf boots. They are safer and give better grip than normal trainers.

Other rules regarding use of the pitch are:

- Studs, blades and spikes are not permitted on the pitch
- All footwear must be clean.
- No chewing gum will be permitted on the pitch
- Strictly no football
- No smoking at the facility
- No food inside the playing area
- Spectators/Parents to remain in the spectator area

The Young Dragon's Committee is a sub committee of the main NDHC committee. If you have any ideas about what you would like to improve or maybe a social idea, please let us know. The following people are on the committee:

What we expect from you
Norwich Dragons Hockey Club will do all it can to safeguard and protect all Young Dragons, however in return we will expect Young Dragons to abide by the rules of the Young Dragons Club, and parents/guardians/carers of Young Dragons will be expected to abide by the NDHC Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers/Spectators.

Young Dragons Playing & Non Playing Opportunities

NDHC will always be looking to encourage Young Dragons to develop both from a playing, but also coaching, umpiring, and managing viewpoint and is committed to alerting Young Dragons to any local opportunities to attend relevant courses.

Young Dragons have been recommended to attend Junior Development Centres, Goalkeeper Coaching Days and will be put forward to the annual Young Umpire Day. Young Dragons are also encouraged through their schools to take part in the Sports Leaders scheme, and any assistance the Club can provide to this though links with the school will be given.

QUICKSTICKS coaching in Primary Schools
NDHC believes it is never too early to introduce hockey to youngsters, particularly in an area that little or hockey currently. Thanks to the volunteering work of Hazel Medler, Mike Banham and John Butler hundreds of school children in Hewett catchment area are being given hockey lessons using the Quicksticks equipment purchased through the Norwich Schools Sport Partnership.
